Mark, Arlene Ruth Martin
July 30, 1931 - October 29, 2022
Arlene Ruth Martin Mark, daughter of Joseph Preston Martin and Mamie Susan Reiff Martin, was born July 30, 1931 in Hagerstown, Maryland and raised in Maugansville, Maryland. She devoted her life to her family, her church, service to others and words. She died at Greencroft, Goshen, IN Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the age of 91.
She was the youngest of six. She grew up with three older brothers, Mervin, Glenn, and Dale. Her siblings Warren and Rheta died in infancy. Her community was small and her church conservative. Higher education was not only uncommon but frowned on, especially for women. With the support of her father, she attended Eastern Mennonite High School and then Eastern Mennonite College (EMU) for two years, the first in her family to attend college. Because she desired a more liberal education, she taught for two years to earn enough money to attend Goshen College without her father’s support. She graduated with a degree in teaching and was immediately hired. In later years she studied Teaching English as a Second Language and tutored in Elkhart.
After graduating from Goshen College in 1955, she spent the summer working through a Students in Industry unit in Chicago. She and George Mark rekindled a relationship, having been seated in alphabetical order in their high school English class. They married in the Goshen College church chapel on December 17, 1955. They moved frequently during George’s medical training and 1-W service (alternative to military) before settling in Elkhart, Indiana where they lived for over 50 years before moving to Goshen. They raised four children: Susan (Dennis Landis), David (Dawn Catalino), Paul (Kimberley MacDonald) and Scott (Summer Quimby). Arlene delighted in her eleven grandchildren, Laura (Adam) Yoder, Joel (Mikaela Bender) Landis, Eric Mark, Nicole Mark, Natalie (Spencer) Moore, Nate Mark, Hannah (Craig) Thompson, Jacob Mark, Anne (Nathan) Sipple, John Mark and Brian Mark, and six great-grandchildren, Theodore, Camila and Sebastian Yoder, and Beckett, Addison and Brooks Landis. George, Scott, Summer and all her brothers preceded Arlene in death.
Shortly after moving to Elkhart, they became active members of Prairie Street Mennonite Church where they made many lifelong friends. Arlene was involved in local, conference and national church leadership. She preached the first sermon by a female in many congregations, advocating for women’s full participation while not being allowed to stand behind the pulpit. A lover of words and worship, she studied graduate courses at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary and Notre Dame. She compiled the first Mennonite book of worship liturgy, “Words for Worship,” which continues to be a well-used reference book. She also wrote Sunday school and Bible school materials for children.
She appreciated good food, music, poetry and literature and valued travel with and to visit friends. Her greatest joy was stimulating conversation with friends and family, especially over well-prepared meals with laughter. Arlene was an avid reader as a child and passed that love on to her descendants and students. She read and reviewed books and greatly relished participating in the Elkhart Riverside club.
Arlene believed strongly in giving to others. Her neighbors and church friends knew her as the first to bring a meal in times of turmoil. She shared her organizational skills by serving on many nonprofit boards, including Church Community Services in Elkhart, General Board of the Mennonite Church and was the first female chair of the Board of Overseers of Goshen College. She blessed many with her advice and generous financial contributions.
Her greatest pleasures in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She provided multiple educational experiences for her children, and she loved to read to and dote on her grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Marner, Clair J.
December 12, 1931 - January 22, 2022
Clair J. Marner, 90, of Shipshewana, died at 10:45 pm on Saturday, January 22 at his residence. He was born on December 12, 1931, in Parnell, IA, to John E. and Lydia (Yoder) Marner. On October 30, 1955, in Conneaut Lake, PA, he married Juanita Miller, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are son, Ron Marner of Middlebury; three daughters, Linda Yoder of Plymouth, Karen (Mike) Unternahrer of Middlebury, Deb (Clint) Kauffman of Winamac; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (Joe) Kanagy of Wellman, IA; brother, Marvin (Helen) Marner of Hills, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Verda, Lucille, and Lois Marner; a brother, Lowell Marner.
Clair was a farmer and truck driver. He graduated from Iowa Mennonite School and was a member of Shore Church. He enjoyed woodworking and attending to his flower garden and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martin, Ada N. Hoover
March 4, 1931 - February 26, 2022
Ada N. Martin, 90, of Stevens, died February 26, 2022, at her home after a lengthy illness. Her husband, Menno Z. Martin, preceded her in death in 2013. They had been married for 61 years on December 20.
Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lydia (Newswanger) Hoover.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Muddy Creek Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving are nine children: Lloyd married to Mabel (Shirk) Martin, Colby, WI, Lydia Ann married to Allen Brubaker, Narvon, Alvin married to Elizabeth (Burkholder) Martin, Greenwood, WI, Arlene married to Ammon Wenger, Dundee, NY, Ellamae married to Noah Brubaker, Thorp, WI, Ruth married to Lloyd Brubaker, Ephrata, Martha Martin, Stevens, Harvey Martin, Denver, Eugene Martin, Stevens, 41 grandchildren, 141 great-grandchildren, four siblings: Rebecca married to Isaac Nolt, Latham, MO, Susie married to Leroy Martin, Barnett, MO, Willis married to Verna (Weaver) Hoover, Richfield, Anna Mary married to Aaron Nolt, Curtiss, WI and a sister-in-law Sarah (Hurst) widow of the late Elam Hoover, Versailles, MO.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Joseph Hoover, Ellen Fox, Martin Hoover, Adam Hoover, Isaac Hoover, Elam Hoover and Lena Weaver.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. at Muddy Creek Mennonite Church with Bishop Leon N. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Amos B. Martin, 80, of Stevens, PA, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
He was born in W. Cocalico Twp., Lancaster County, to the late John F. and Edna M. (Burkholder) Martin.
He was the loving husband of Edna M. (Martin) Martin with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
He was a partner in the family business John F. Martin & Sons Meats, and also Martin's Country Market, where he worked until retirement. He was an active member at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church. He was an avid hunter and loved to spend time in the woods.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Nevin (Donna) Martin of Denver, Dwain (Jan) Martin of Womelsdorf, LeAnn (Howard) Lichty of Brunner, ON, Bernell (Karen) Martin of Stevens, Linford (Louise) Martin of Ephrata; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five siblings, Arlene (Earl) Sauder, Elvin Martin, John (Mary Ann) Martin, Ervin (Joyce) Martin, Anna (Vernon) Weaver; sisters-in-law, Esther Mae Martin and Anna Martin, and a brother-in-law, Amos Hoover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Weaver and Lester; two infant brothers, Franklin and Harold; a sister, Nora Hoover, and a sister-in-law Esther Martin.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, 140 Pleasant Valley Road, Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, followed by funeral services at 1:30 PM with Bishop Larry Weaver officiating. Amos L. Martin, 94, of East Earl, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 26, 2022. He was married 72 years to Frances M. Horst Martin. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Amos M. and Magdalena Weaver Martin.
Amos was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the Spring Grove Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, where he had been a minister for 52 years.

Arthur Stahl Martin, 84, of Port Trevorton entered into rest at 2:09 pm on Monday, March 21, 2022 at his residence. Born on May 30, 1937 in West Earl Twp, Lancaster County, a son of the late Phares W. Martin and Margie Amelia (Stahl) Martin. On January 7, 1961, he married the former Vera S. Auker, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2019.
Arthur was a farmer in Snyder County PA.
He was a member of Riverview Old Order Mennonite Church, Snyder County Conference.

Family services will be at 8:30 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the family's residence, 534 Hill Top Road, Port Trevorton. Further services will be at 9:00 AM Saturday at Riverview Old Order Mennonite Church, Snyder, County Conference, Oriental Road and Old Trail Road, Liverpool with the local church ministry officiating.

Bonnie M. Martin, 58, of Parkwood Drive Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2002 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Wilbur L. Martin.
A celebration of her life will be held at Grace Community Church, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 4:00 PM. An informal visitation will be held following the service. Private traditional interment was in Bylerland Mennonite Cemetery.
Martin, Chester B.
June 14, 1942 - January 24, 2022
Chester B. Martin, 79, of Leola, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks. His wife of 43 years, Ruth Ann (Zimmerman) Martin, survives.
Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Frances (Bowman) Martin.
Chet was a skilled mason worker with Charles W. Weaver Masonry and a cabinet maker for Heritage Custom Cabinetry. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving for Twin Pine Ford.
He was a member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church where he served as sexton for 35 years.
Chet enjoyed watching sports, especially when his grandchildren participated. He was an avid card and domino player. He and Ruth Ann enjoyed traveling to the beach and Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Douglas R. married to Denise Martin, Lancaster, Michelle J. married to Timothy Doutrich, Gap, and Van Colby Martin fiancé of Kaui Garcia, Downingtown, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings: Raymond, Samuel and Lester (Chet’s twin) Martin and Elizabeth Newswanger, Anna Mae Harnish, Pauline Weaver, Esther Weaver, and Edna High.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Rd., Leola. The service will also be available by livestream https://fhmc.church/youtube or on Facebook.

Clarence E. Martin, Sr., of Stevens, died at home on August, 10 2022 at the age of 84 years 1 month and 22 days. He was the husband of Ruth H. (Weaver) Martin. He was the son of the (late) Aaron K. Martin and (late) Susan Eby Martin. He was a member of Conestoga Valley Mennonite Church.

David Ray Martin, 76, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at home.
He was born in Lancaster to the late David W. and Lizzie W. (Martin) Martin and was the husband of Irene (Sensenig) Martin.
He was a member of Pequea Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).
David was a roofer.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by three children, Wanda, wife of Stephen Fox of Ephrata, Sharon, wife of Jeffrey Martin of Port Trevorton, Dale, husband of Natalie Martin of Denver; six grandchildren and eight siblings, Walter M. Dorothy Mae (Shirk) Martin, 95, of Reinholds, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
The daughter of the late Harry and Francis (Wenger) Shirk, she was married 74 years to Andrew W. Martin.
An active member of Blainsport Mennonite Church until her later years, she helped produce many quilts in Sewing Circle. Throughout the years she enjoyed bowling, painting ceramics, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and growing roses. She and Dad traveled to all 50 states.
Dorothy was the mother of 4 children, J. Clifford (Jayne Sweigart), Joyce Procanyn, Lucille Zimmerman, and Kenneth (Ada Snader); grandmother of 9, and great-grandmother of 24. She is also survived by sisters LaReta Sandoe and Miriam Brendle;
She was preceded in death by 8 siblings, Helen, Alberta, Pearl, Beulah, Charles, Luke, Caroll, and Willis; grandson, Jason Zimmerman; 2 sons-in-law, Mike Procanyn and Mark Zimmerman.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at the Blainsport Mennonite Church, 85 S. Blainsport Road, Reinholds. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Eric Marshall officiating. Interment will take place in the Blainsport Cemetery.

Dorothy Z. Martin, 95, formerly of Terre Hill, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022 at Fairmount Homes. She was born March 10, 1927 to Ammon R. and Civilla S. Wenger. She was married 69 years to Melvin L. Martin, who passed away in November 2019.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Karen (widow of Fred Brubaker), Port Trevorton, Janice (wife of James H. Martin), Narvon, Phyllis Hurst, Denver, and Dwight Martin (married to Pam) of Harrisonburg, VA. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and the following brothers and sisters: Verna (widow of Irvin Stauffer), Mechanicsville, MD, Edythe (widow of Mervin Trail), Louisiana, Margaret (wife of Phares Sensenig), Clyde Wenger (married to Lucy), Arvilla (wife of Sam Sensenig), June (wife of Eli Sensenig), and Thomas Wenger (husband of the late Charlotte), all of Tunas, MO, and Chester Wenger (married to Kathryn), Bainbridge, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Eleanor Davis, Earl Wenger, and Mabel Sloan, and two grandchildren.
Dorothy sewed for many people. She loved flower gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Stauffer Pike Mennonite Church.
There will be a viewing at Wheat Ridge Chapel, Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheatridge Drive, Ephrata, on Tuesday, December 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. An additional viewing will be held from 9-10 AM on Wednesday, December 14, before services at 10 AM at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl.

June 12, 1930 - March 10, 2022
Edna G. Martin, 91, of Lititz, was welcomed by Jesus and her Heavenly family on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Landis Homes, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Christian B. and Esther D. Rohrer Groff. She was the loving wife of the late Roy M. Martin who passed away in December 2001. Edna assisted her husband at their market stand, C.Z. Martin & Sons at Lancaster Central Market. She was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church since 1954 where she taught Bible school and Sunday school, she was part of Women's Ministries and the sewing circle. Edna was also a member of Rohrerstown Fire Company Auxiliary. Her interests included gardening flowers and vegetables, crocheting, home sewing, canning, making crafts, and writing letters of encouragement. Her greatest joy was her family and being involved in their lives in any way possible.
Surviving are four children, Karen M. wife of Howard Russell, Canyon Lake, TX, Darrell R. husband of Katherine Hoke Martin, Lititz, Nancy M. wife of Ron Rickerhauser, Fredericksburg, TX, Steven D. husband of Rikke Pederson Martin, Sherborn, MA, five grandchildren, and three step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Martin, a son-in-law, William Griffin, three brothers, Lloyd, Marvin, and Clarence Groff, two sisters, Mary Leaman, Anna Mae Landis, and a sister-in-law, Edna Groff.

Martin, Elizabeth W. "Betty" Weaver
June 5, 1939 - May 23, 2022
Elizabeth "Betty" W. Martin, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 23, 2022, at Landis Homes in Lititz, PA. She was born in Murrell, PA, on June 5, 1939, the youngest of eight children. After marrying her next-door neighbor and sweetheart in 1960, she spent sixty-two years as the dearly loved wife of James R. Martin.
Known for her compassionate listening and kind and gentle ways, Betty lovingly cared for her family throughout the years, extending that care to four foster children as well. Along with being an expert seamstress and seasoned gardener, she was a skilled and faithful partner in ministry with James at South Seventh St. Mennonite Church and Red Run Mennonite Church. She also worked for Provident Bookstore for seventeen years, becoming an assistant manager.
Betty enjoyed reading and traveling to visit family. She loved singing her whole life, and she and James often sang together for others at Landis Homes, even after dementia began to impair her abilities. She modeled courage, patience, and resilience during her nine-year journey through Alzheimer's disease.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Weaver and Lizzie (Martin) Weaver, and her siblings Martin Weaver, Ruth (Weaver) Landis, and Henry Weaver. She is survived by her husband James, her daughter Nita and her husband Karl Landis of Lancaster, her son Robert and his wife Janice of Bowmansville, her son Nelson of Pensacola, Florida, her daughter Regina and her husband Bernard Brown of Ellicott City Maryland, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Naomi Weaver, Esther Weaver, Anna Mae Weaver, and Martha (Weaver) Hoover.
The family will have a private burial service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Rd., East Earl, PA 17519 on Monday, May 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM, with an opportunity to greet the family following the service. The memorial service will be livestreamed at Bowmansville Mennonite Church Youtube Channel.

Ella Wenger Martin, 75 years, 5 months, twenty-six days, of rural Arbela, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family.
Ella was born January 2, 1947, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Phares and Annie Wenger Zeiset, one of fifteen children.
On March 11, 1967, near East Earl, Pennsylvania, in Lancaster County, Ella married Henry O. Martin, and to this union six children were born.
Ella and Henry moved to Northeast Missouri in 1974 to raise their family. They were members of the North View Mennonite Church, north of Arbela, Missouri.
Ella is survived by five children, Marilyn and Charles Zimmerman of Arbela, Missouri, Doris and David Martin of Rutledge, Missouri, Merle and Paula Martin of Birnamwood, Wisconsin, Mary Ella and Lewis Burkholder of Baring, Missouri, and Vernon and Sarah Martin of Kalona, Iowa; thirty-nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; seven brothers, Alan and Esther Zeiset of East Earl, Pennsylvania, John and Verna Zeiset of Knox City, Missouri, Walter and Ruth Ann Zeiset of Manheim, Pennsylvania, Irvin and Mildred Zeiset of East Earl, Pennsylvania, Phares Jr. and Janice Zeiset of East Earl, Pennsylvania, Edwin and Karen Zeiset of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, and Raymond and Marion Zeiset of Millersburg, Pennsylvania; five sisters, Lizzie and John Horst of Lyons, New York, Mary and Alvin Good of Memphis, Missouri, Anna and Luke Zimmerman of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Emma and Leroy Martin of Denver, Pennsylvania, and Edna and Willis Martin of Ephrata, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Emma Zeiset; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Phares and Annie Zeiset; husband, Henry Martin on March 25, 2006; a son, Leland Earl Martin in 1984, at the age of 9; an infant grandson; a brother, Elmer Zeiset; and a sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Loren Martin.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 4, 2022 at the North View Mennonite Church north of Arbela, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Memphis, Missouri.
Burial will be in the North View Mennonite Cemetery, north of Arbela, Missouri.

Martin, Ellie (Edna Mae) Zimmerman

Ellie (Edna Mae) Martin, 78, of Ronks, PA., went to be with the Lord at her home on October 15, 2022 after a four-week bout with cancer. She was born July 8, 1944 in Blue Ball, PA., the daughter of the late Eli B. and Mary Ellen Zimmerman. She was the sixth of seven siblings. After 51 years of marriage to Mahlon Oberholtzer, who preceded her in death, she married James I. Martin on February 6, 2021.
Ellie was a beloved wife, mother and friend of many. An active member of Grace Point Church of Paradise, she devoted a large amount of her time ministering to the needs of others. She loved gardening, cooking, playing tennis and hosting family and friends at her home.
She is survived by husband, James I. Martin of Ronks, children Frederick Oberholtzer of Gettysburg, Katrina O. Lefever (Dave) of Akron, and Thomas Oberholtzer (Denise) of Penn Laird, VA.; step-children Renita Leong of Lancaster, Dana Martin (Pradeep Kumar) of Lancaster, Tanya Martin Nisly (Kevin) of Arlington, KS. and Andre Martin (Angie) of Millersville; grandchildren; Noe and Lucas Oberholtzer Hess (and their mother Audrey Hess) of Gettysburg, Eli Lefever of Akron, and Katie and Quinn Oberholtzer of Penn Laird, VA.; and step-grandchildren; Orion and Dane Leong (and their father Chris Leong) of Lititz, Sadie, Hannah and Lily Martin Nisly of Arlington, KS., and Leiana, Adelyn and Wyatt Martin of Millersville.
Preceding her in death are sisters Marian Zimmerman and Anna Frances Wenger. She is survived by sister Kathryn Horst of New Holland, brother Raymond Zimmerman (Ada Mae) of Peach Bottom, Mary Jane Musser (Isaac) of Narvon, and Sylvia Martin (Harold) of Brownstown.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Grace Point Church of Paradise, 10 S. Singer Ave., Paradise with Pastor Tim Rogers officiating. Viewings will be held at the church on Friday from 5 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 10:45 a.m.

Elvin M. Martin, 77, of Lititz, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at UPMC Lititz.
He was born in Lancaster to the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Martin) Martin and was the husband of Lois (Shellenberger) Martin with whom he was looking forward to celebrating 50 years of marriage this September.
He was a longtime member of Millport Mennonite Church.
Elvin worked for Martin's Paving before retiring in 2017. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting at his cabin in Juniata County, loved a good cup of coffee, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was very nice, easy going, and always smiling- he knew no stranger.
In addition to his beloved wife, Elvin is survived by two cherished children, Sheila, wife of Arlyn Musser of Manheim, Randy, husband of Christine Martin of Lancaster; three treasured grandchildren, Brandyn, Dylan and Shaina and four siblings, Elizabeth Nolt of Lancaster, Florence, wife of Harry Mast of Broadway, VA, Lydia, wife of Ed Good of Leola, John, husband of Verna Martin of Bowmansville.
In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Martin and five siblings, Sam Martin, Eva Martin, Paul Martin, Ed Martin, and Anna Weaver.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 9 to 11 AM at Millport Mennonite Church, 820 Log Cabin Road, Leola followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Blosser officiating. Interment will take place in Crossings Community Cemetery, the former Erisman Mennonite Cemetery.

Emily D. Martin passed peacefully from the arms of her loving husband into the presence of her Saviour on October 19, 2022, after courageously battling leukemia for 2 years.
She was born in Sellersville, PA on October 12, 1961.
She is lovingly missed by Malvern Martin, her dear husband of 39 years, and 13 children: Alex Spring married to Danette, of Chugwater, WY; Ricky Spring of Washington, NC; Dari Martin married to Rita of Plymouth, NC; David Strait of Phoenix, AZ; Joey Phillips married to Kelly of Sparta, WI; Kenton Martin of Pantego, NC; Brooke married to Johann Butikofer of Cuba, MO; Shari married to Kendall Hershberger of Pantego, NC; Jill married to Ryan Martin of Goldston, NC; Elva married to James Lynn Miller of Castalia, NC; and the 3 girls still at home, Shyanne, Harmony, and Melody.
She is also greatly missed by her 14 grandchildren. She loved them dearly and delighted in spending time with them reading stories, playing games, building puzzles, and making precious memories together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Anna Derstine; brother, Joel Derstine; infant son, Bradlyn D. Martin; and infant granddaughter, Angelina Skye Miller.
We are thankful for the beautiful gift of love and compassion God gave us in our dear mother. We will miss her immensely!

Erma J. (Martin) Martin, 89, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022 at Ephrata Manor where she had resided. She was married 56 years to the late Horace M. Martin who died in 2007. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Anna (Martin) Martin.
Erma was a member of the Goodville Mennonite Church where she had been involved as a pianist and Sunday School teacher. She had formerly been employed by Sperry New Holland and SLC in Blue Ball. Following retirement, she and her husband were member of the music group, The Goodville Gospelaires. She enjoyed cooking, music, volunteering at the ReUzit Shop in Morgantown and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are four children, LuAnne wife of Terry Hartranft of Narvon, Leon husband of Linda Martin of Terre Hill, Lois Justice of Denver, and Lori wife of Ron Hughes of Birdsboro; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn wife of the late Clarence Groff, and Mildred wife of the late Roy Leaman. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Joan.

Esther S. Martin, 79, of Liverpool, entered into rest Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her home.
Born May 17, 1942, in Penn Township, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mary Ann W. Stauffer.
On May 3, 1969, she united in marriage to John B. Martin who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2020.
They were owners of Martin's Greenhouse and she also worked in the office of the family business with her late husband (Martin General Builders).
She was a member of Riverview Old Order Mennonite Church, Snyder County Conference.
Surviving are five sons and six daughters and their spouses, Diann and Luther Stauffer of Vandalia, Ill., Stephen and Bethe Martin of Liverpool, John Wayne and Lorene Martin of Vandalia, Ill., Joseph and Ruth Martin of Liverpool, Lillian Martin of Liverpool, Beth and David Brubaker of Port Trevorton, Kaylene Martin of Liverpool, Gloria and Wayne Auker of Port Trevorton; three stepchildren, Karen and Roy Brubacker of Mount Pleasant Mills, Earl and BettyAnn Martin of Port Trevorton, Harlan and Rosemary Martin of Bagley, Minn.; 66 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, three brothers and six sisters and their spouses, Lena Brubacker (late Aaron), Rebecca Martin (Luke) Walter Stauffer (Sally), Ida Zimmerman (Ivan), Alice Martin (Elam), Rachel Martin (Eugene), Alvin Stauffer (Sally), Mary Ann Weaver (Timothy), Joseph Stauffer (Julia).
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Martin; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Martin, Evelyn Kreider
October 14th, 1926 – April 21st, 2022
Evelyn Martin, 95, of Landis Homes, Lititz, entered the presence of God on April 21.
She was the daughter of the late Eli and Laura Weaver Kreider and the faithful wife of Harold C. Martin who passed away in 2010.
Known as Evie by her close friends, she was a long-time member of Stumptown Mennonite Church. She relished in the fellowship of the members of her Sunday School Class and was saddened when she was no longer able to physically attend church services 2 years ago. Evelyn was a homemaker and was employed in various capacities at Ohio Table Pad, Leola, from the time her children entered school until her retirement. She was a gifted seamstress and smocked many dresses for her daughters and for their dolls. She made cabbage patch dolls for each of her granddaughters. In the early 70's, after seeing the need for a safe, wholesome place for youth to congregate, she and her husband converted their barn into The Way Inn, a coffee house for youth to gather for fellowship, music and nurture.
Evelyn is survived by four children: Carol, wife of Mahlon Zimmerman, Leola; Jean, wife of Tom Buchen, Lancaster; Cliff, husband of Sue (Skiles), Lancaster and Shari, wife of Dave Lefever, Lititz. Eleven grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren also survive. They all benefited from her love and nurture.
She is survived by three sisters: June Garber, Mary Gehman, Fran Martin (Earl). Ten siblings preceded her in death: Bob Kreider, Harold Kreider, Lloyd Kreider and his infant twin brother Roy, Nelson Kreider, Esther Wolf, Dave Kreider, Ruth Spangler, Dorothy Kreider and Jim Kreider.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Road, Bird-In-Hand, PA. The family will greet friends following the service. Frances M. Martin, 90, of Fairmount Homes, formerly of East Earl, died Thursday evening [August 11, 2022] at Fairmount Homes. Her husband, Clyde W. Martin, preceded her in death in 2019. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Elizabeth (Martin) Shirk.
Frances was a homemaker and a member of Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community. At church, she was involved in the sewing circle, serving as president for many years and as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and her family has many fond memories of her delicious meals. She hand quilted a quilt for each of her grandchildren.
Surviving are five children: Nelson married to Susan (Gingrich) Martin, Ephrata, Linda married to Jay Good, Sparta, MO, LaVern married to Beth (Wagner) Martin, Columbia, Karen married to Dennis Stoner, East Earl, Clifford married to Holly (Knepp) Martin, East Petersburg, 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four siblings: Helen Shirk, Elizabeth Diffenderfer, Grace Sauder and John Shirk.

Born in Leola, she was the daughter of the late Norman N. and Mary N. (Reiff) Hoover.
She was a homemaker and a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Branden Martin and two stillborn great-grandsons, and five siblings: Aaron, John, and Harvey Hoover, Martha Nolt, and Anna Zimmerman.

Fred W. Martin, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. He was the husband of the late Miriam H. Myer Martin who died September 5, 2021. Born in Leola, he was the son of the late Warren and Dorothy Denlinger Martin.
He was a graduate of Lampeter Strasburg High School. Fred was a member of Grace Point Church, formerly known as Paradise Mennonite where he pastored from 1975 to 2002. He was a life-long dairy farmer until he retired and was currently working at Zimmerman's Hardware in Strasburg. He enjoyed puzzles, gardening, camping and spending time with his family.
Surviving are 3 children: Darrell husband of Nyla Ebersole Martin of Lancaster, Patti wife of Jim Metzler of Quarryville, Roger husband of Rhoda Fisher Martin of Lancaster, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Freda M. Martin, 83, of Goshen died Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Waterford Crossing Healthcare.
She was born November 17, 1938 in Yoder, Kansas to Daniel D. and Elizabeth (Yoder) Yoder.
She is survived by three sons, Dale (Marj) Martin of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Roger (Mary Jo) Martin of Goshen, and Steve (Sheryl) Martin of Akron, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Andrew Yoder of Texas, Merle Yoder of Millersburg, Esther Bontrager of Goshen, and Nadine Brewster of Florida.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Martin, a son, Randall “Randy” Martin, and a brother, Omer Yoder.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Howard-Miami Mennonite Church, Kokomo and attended Clinton Frame Church after moving to the area. She was a faithful Christian and loving homemaker.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, followed by a 5 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Lee Miller, Kokomo, will officiate.

Harlan M. Martin, 81, of Troy, PA, a native of Lancaster County, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022 after several years of failing health. Harlan was the owner of Martin's Dairy Service for 35 years. He was also very active in his community. He was the president of Full Gospel Businessmen Troy Chapter, a founding member of Canton Mennonite Church now North Street Community Church, a founder and board member of New Beginnings Rehab in Leroy, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Fran Martin, son Ernie (wife Angie), daughter Lori Martin (husband Bruce) and son Steve (wife Stacie). He had 7 grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicholas, Nate, Ashley, Caiden, Emily and Hannah, and 4 great grandchildren. He was born of the late Lester and Elizabeth Martin of East Earl, PA. His siblings are the deceased Lester (Marie), Phares (Marie), Carl (Gladys) and Ann (Sam).

Harlan Z. Martin, 59 of Elizabethtown, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Born in Chester County, he was the son of John M. Martin and step mother Verna Horning Martin of Denver and the late Verna Zimmerman Martin. He was the loving husband to Janet Martin.
A Godly, faithful Father and Grandpa, Harlan was a dairy farmer all his life and a faithful member of Clearview Mennonite Church, Manheim. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed dearly by all.
Surviving in addition to his wife, father and step mother are five children, Kevin Martin (Suellen) of Manheim, Kristina Martin at home, Sherlyn Martin of Goshen, IN, Lori Good (Burnell) of Elizabethtown, Melissa Martin (Kenton) of Keosauqua, IA; 10 living grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Dianne Martin of Terre Hill and 4 siblings, Galen Martin (Louella) of Manheim, Mervin Martin (Julia) of Myerstown, Janet Oberholtzer (Carl) of Colby, WI and Jason Martin (Rhoda) of Holtwood and many friends. Harold W. Martin, 92, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 after a short illness, surrounded by family. He was born on June 22, 1930 in Rothsville, to the late Christian K. and Grace E. Weaver Martin and was the loving husband of Bertha Mary Weaver Martin for 68 years. He was a life-long farmer and a member of Rheems Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children; Glenn (Amy Kreider) Martin, Manheim, Amy (Charles) High, Millerstown, Lois (Wayne) Heller, Tyrone, Martha (Marlin) Sensenig, Ephrata, Elvin (Lenna Sensenig) Martin, Myerstown, Faye (Roger) Mast, Elliottsburg, 32 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, a sister, Laura Lapp Hertle, and seven brothers; John C., Galen W., Clyde W., Lloyd W., Willis W., Sanford W., and Clair W., Martin. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Esther Martin, Florence Faus, and Pearl Brazier, two brothers, Luke and Roy Martin, and a great-grandson, Carter Martin.

Harvey Z. Martin, 79, of Richland, Lebanon County, PA, formerly of Fleetwood and Kutztown, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 12, 2022 in Richland Christian Home. He was the widower of Orpha K. (Musser) Martin, who died August 9, 2013 and whom he married November 16, 1963. Born in Lancaster on April 13, 1943, Harvey was a son of the late Harvey W. and Mary Ann (Zimmerman) Martin. He was a farmer from 1972 until 2006 and then worked for Pennaco Excavating, Inc., Fleetwood until his retirement. Harvey was a member of Walnuttown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

Jennifer Kay Martin, 33, of New Holland, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at her home while under hospice care. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of Reuben S. and May Lou (Sensenig) Martin, with whom she resided.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two siblings: Mary Beth wife of Darnell Zimmerman, Manheim and Randall S. Martin, at home (friend Mikayla Garman), two nephews: Cameron and Emerson, a niece Kezia, and maternal grandparents, Adam and Mary Lou Sensenig, New Holland.

Jerome B. Martin, 15, of Winfield, entered into rest on Saturday, June 18, 2022, near Parkton, Maryland, due to injuries suffered in a traffic accident.

Jerome worked on the family farm and part time with the Buffalo Valley Produce Auction, Mifflinburg.

John B. Martin, 79, of Ephrata, passed away on December 11, 2022 as a resident of Fairmount Homes. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Paul W. and Ada S. (Brubaker) Martin.
He was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference) and was employed as a teacher for various schools. He enjoyed singing, composing songs and translating German to English.
John is survived by his sisters, Mabel Martin of Narvon and Mary Martin of Narvon and a brother, Joseph Martin of Mechanicsburg.

John M. Martin, 87, of Denver, passed away on May 27, 2022 in his residence.
Born in Vogansville, Earl Township, he was the son of the late Edwin S. and Elizabeth W. (Martin) Martin.
He was the loving husband of Verna Z. (Horning) Martin, whom he married on December 23, 2017 and he was the husband of the late Verna E. (Zimmerman) Martin, until the time of her passing on May 6, 2014.
John was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference), where he had also served as a Minister for forty-three years. He was employed as a farmer in Berks County. He enjoyed doing volunteer work for Christian Aid Ministries.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Galen Z. husband of Luella Martin of Manheim, PA, Mervin Z. husband of Julia Martin of Myerstown, PA, Janet Z. wife of Carl Oberholtzer of Colby, WI and Jason Z. husband of Rhoda Martin, of Holtwood, PA, his daughters-in-law: Dianne Martin of Terre Hill, PA and Janet Martin of Elizabethtown, PA and his stepchildren: Linda wife of John Good of East Earl, PA, Glen husband of Lorene Martin of Fredericksburg, PA and Elvin husband of Vera Martin of Newmanstown, PA. Lizzie R. Martin, age 95, who most recently resided at her son's home at 1885 Main St., East Earl, PA passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022. She was born on March 17, 1927 in East Earl Township, Lancaster County Pennsylvania. She resided all her life in Lancaster County. Lizzie was the daughter of the late David S. Rissler and Lizzie S. (Hurst) Rissler.
Lizzie was married to David W. Martin on December 2, 1947. David preceded her in death on April 14, 2018 after 70 years of marriage.
Lizzie was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, (Groffdale Conference). She was a faithful wife, homemaker, and loving mother to her family.

She was married 28 years to Kenneth H. Martin. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of Amos M. and Esther S. Weaver Zimmerman of East Earl.

Lydia Ann (Zimmerman) Nolt Martin, 92, of New Holland, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at her residence.
She was born in East Earl Township, the daughter of the late Aaron and Lizzie (Nolt) Zimmerman. She was the wife of the late Reuben Z. Nolt, who passed away in 1988, and the late Joseph H. Martin, who passed away in 2014.
She was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Lydia was a homemaker.

Myerstown - Lydia M. Martin, 102, of Myerstown, passed away in her home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was the wife of the late Elmer M. Martin. She was born in East Earl Township, Lancaster County on August 22, 1919, a daughter of the late Samuel M. and Hettie Musser Martin. Lydia was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

Lyndon M. Martin, age 24 days, of Curtiss, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center.
A service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Clark View Mennonite Church in the Town of Longwood. His final resting place will be at the church cemetery. Elvin Hoover, Randall Martin, Leroy Martin and Jerry Brubaker presided. Pallbearers were his grandfathers: Lloyd Martin and Melvin Martin. Visitation was on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at N13909 Oak Grove Avenue, Curtiss. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lyndon was born on February 12, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield to Leon S. and Lois Hursh Martin.
Lyndon is survived by his parents: Leon and Lois Martin; siblings: Lisa, Lynette, Lorann, LeeEvan, Leona, Loren, Linda, Leticia and LaRose; and his grandparents: Lloyd and Mabel Martin and Melvin Martin, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mabel Elizabeth Martin, 93, a resident of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Mrs. Martin was born on May 14, 1928 in Rockingham County, VA, to the late Paul Timothy and Annie Florence Heatwole Shank. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church.
On June 15, 1960, she married Lewis G. Martin, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Edwin Martin and wife Lucinda of Rockingham, Louise Parmeter and husband Mark of Rockingham, Marie Gingrich and husband Mark of Ft. Defiance; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special family friends, Megan Williams and husband Jason of Charleston, SC, and their two sons.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her siblings, Hazel Burkholder and Mark Shank.
Friends may call at the Martin home on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 8, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mabel W. Martin, 83, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Fairmount Homes.
She was born in Ephrata to the late Elvin M. and Mary Ann (Weaver) Martin and was the wife of Allen Z. Martin with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
She was a member of Metzler Mennonite Church.
Mabel, along with her husband, was an owner of Martin's Bike Shop. She loved to travel and create scrapbooks of the memories. She also enjoyed sending cards, collecting dolls, working outside, and creating beautiful flowerbeds.
In addition to her husband, Mabel is survived by her son, Dale A., husband of Linda (Weaver) Martin of Ephrata; her daughter, Mary Joy, wife of Roy Hoover of New Holland; five grandsons; five granddaughters; 28 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, J. Elvin, husband of Vera (Horst) Martin of Ephrata, Mary Ann, wife of John B. Martin of Ephrata, and Leon E., husband of Marlene (Martin) Martin of Leola.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Metzler Mennonite Church, 515 W. Metzler Road, Ephrata. Mahlon Martin, age 85, of Syracuse, IN went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2022, following an illness at his home. He was the oldest son of Herman and Sarah (Martin) Martin, born to them on January 15, 1937 in Elkhart County, IN. On August 21, 1960 he was united in marriage to Hannah Mary Martin, his companion of 62 years.
Mahlon was a lifetime area resident, a passionate farmer at heart, and a member of the Salem Mennonite Church.
Surviving are his beloved wife and their daughter, Marceil Ellen Martin, both of Syracuse, IN; his siblings, Mary Martin of Nappanee, Lena (Loyal) Martin of Goshen, Ora Martin of Syracuse, Inez (Vernon) Kurtz of Illinois, Sharon (Leland) Shaum of Goshen; a sister-in-law Elaine Martin of Goshen; and a brother-in-law Louis (Carol) Martin of Nappanee, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Anna (Martin) Miller; a brother-in-law Orie Miller; a brother Henry Martin; and a sister-in-law Linda Martin.

Mary Alice (Shaum) Martin, age 91 of Nappanee, IN, passed away at 8:55 am on Friday, July 29, 2022 at home, of natural causes. She was born on September 26, 1930 in Wakarusa, IN to Henry and Susanna (Witmer) Shaum. On October 4, 1953, Mary Alice was united in marriage to Lowell B. Martin. They were married 68 years.
Surviving are her husband, Lowell Martin of Nappanee; 3 sons: Lavon, Ronald (Rita), and Elverne (Lauretta) Martin, all of Nappanee; 17 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; 47 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Esther Shaum of Engadine, MI and Grace Shaum of Goshen, IN.

Mary Jane Martin, 62, of Rutledge, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
She was born on January 22, 1959, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Alvin and Verna Brubaker.
Mary moved to Northeast Missouri in 1976, and on November 26, 1981 she married Mark M. Martin, and they shared forty years of life together.
They were members of the Millport Mennonite Church, south of Rutledge, Missouri.
To this union seven children were born, Janice (Steven) Zeiset, and their children, Levi, Verlin ,Kendon, Devon, Ronald, and Shalyn all of Arbela, Missouri, Carolyn (Stephen) Herr of Gorin, Missouri, Carl (Janelle) Martin, and their children, Nicole, Carson, Emery, and Waldon all of Rutledge, Missouri, Joseph (Thelma) Martin, and their children, Kadrian, Kaylissa, and Makyla all of Rutledge, Missouri, Roseann Martin, Albert Martin, Twila Martin all of the home near Rutledge, Missouri; she was well loved by her thirteen grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Edwin (Esther) Brubaker of Memphis, Missouri, Miriam (Paul) Reiff of Mohnton, Pennsylvania, Rachel (Marlin) High of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Ruth (Edwin) Horst of Downing, Missouri, Martha (Marlin) Martin of Loyal, Wisconsin, Raymond (Julia) Brubaker of Lamonte, Missouri, Linda (Ralph) Burkholder of Downing, Missouri, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Verna Brubaker; two nieces and a nephew.

Mary Z. (Burkholder) Nolt Martin, 97, of Richland, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in the Richland Christian Home, Richland, PA. She was born in Ephrata, PA, Lancaster County on July 21, 1925, a daughter of the late Noah W. and Elizabeth Z. (Zimmerman) Burkholder. Mary was the wife of the late Ivan H. Nolt and the late Melvin S. Martin. She was a member of the Martin's Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at Jubilee Ministries in Lebanon for many years. Her family was very special to her, and she loved spending time with them.

Noah Martin, age 78 of Goshen, IN, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:44 am on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his residence after a sudden illness. Mr. Martin was born on October 7, 1943 to Harvey S. and Lydia (Martin) Martin. His mother passed away when he was 3 years old and he was raised by his step mother, Lucy Martin. All 3 of his parents preceded him in death. On January 20, 1966 Noah married Lucile Martin in Goshen, IN. Noah was a member of the Yellow Creek Old Order Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucile Martin of Goshen; 3 children: Kenton (Maryann) Martin of Spencer, TN, Charlotte (Everett) Martin of Goshen, and Juliana (Eli) Sauder of Bowmansville, PA; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Melvin Martin and Abraham (Edith) Martin, both of Wakarusa, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Gladys Martin.

Orpha B. Martin, 72, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Penryn, she was the loving daughter of the late William K. and Sara E. (Brubaker) Martin. Orpha was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Lancaster General School of Nursing and Eastern Mennonite College. Orpha enjoyed working as a nurse in long term care. She was a member of James Street Mennonite Church, Lancaster.
Surviving are two brothers Mark B. Martin (Jean), Sarasota, FL and Fred B. Martin (Iris), Elizabethtown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Orpha will be greatly missed by her pet cat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard, Sara Ann Keener, George, John, and Joel Martin.

Paul G. Martin, 76, of Strick Road, Milton, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
Born November 27, 1945, in New Holland, he was the son of the late David and Mary (Groff) Martin. He married Anna Z. Hoover, and together they have celebrated 47 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife Anna, he is survived by seven sons, LaMar H. and his wife Mary Ann, Turbotville, Daryl H. and his wife Lena Mae, Milton, Peter H. and his wife Alta, Milton, David H. and his wife Rachael, Danville, Paul H. and his wife Lydia, Danville, Eugene H. at home, Gerald H. of East Earl. Four brothers, Noah Martin, East Earl; Elam Martin, Milton; David Martin and John Martin both of New Holland. Four sisters, Susie Reif, Terre Hill, Alma Martin, New Holland, Martha Hoover and Esther Martin both of Ephrata.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by son, Justin H. Martin; and a sister, Ada Hoover.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 9 at 9:00 AM at their home, 417 Strick Road, Milton, and will continue at 9:30 AM at the Limestone Mennonite Church, 281 Laidacker Road, Milton. Bishop John Reif will officiate, and burial will be in Limestone Mennonite Cemetery.

Rachele Dawn Martin, age 50, of Sandusky, died at 12:30 P.M., Sunday, October 23, 2022, at her home, after a 3-year, 4-month, battle with cancer. She was born April 11, 1972, in Goshen, Indiana to Loyal and Lena (Martin) Martin. On July 8, 1995, in Goshen, Indiana she married Jerry Lee Martin of Sandusky, Michigan and were members of the Bethany Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Martin. Her children, Brandon Alicia, Jalena, Trenton, Jaden, Melanie, Weslan all at home. Her parents, Loyal and Lena Martin, of Goshen, Indiana. Myerstown - Raymond M. Martin, 79, of Myerstown, passed away in his home on Monday, April 4, 2022. He was the husband of Thelma I. Brubaker Martin and they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2021. He was born in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County on September 15, 1942, son of the late Norman and Frances G. Martin Martin.
Raymond was employed for 35 years with Pennsy Supply and also was groundskeeper and maintenance man at Dutch Valley Foods for 11 years. He enjoyed chair caning in his retirement years and was a member of Millbach Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Dale Martin and wife Candace; Burnell Martin and wife Lisa; Diane Sensenig and husband Neal; Julie Martin and husband Michael, all of Newmanstown; Timothy Martin and wife Marlene of Lebanon; 24 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Martin and wife Mabel of Myerstown; Leon Martin and wife Grace of Seneca Falls, NY; Harold Martin and wife Joyce of Lititz; Norman Martin, Jr. of Richland; Irvin Martin of Atmore, AL; sisters, Miriam Gehman and husband Paul of Clyde, NY; Grace Ann Zimmerman and husband Harold of Myerstown.

Rebecca M. Martin, 79, of Ephrata, passed away on August 31, 2022 at the home of Mark S. Leid. Born in Ephrata Township, she was the daughter of the late Amos W. and Lydia Ann (Martin) Martin.
She was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference). She had worked for Frys Greenhouse for twenty-six years. She enjoyed stamping and planting flowers.
Rebecca is survived by two brothers: Ammon and Lizzie Martin of Leola and Eli M. Martin of Mifflinburg, a sister: Alice M. and Samuel Z. Horning. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by two brothers: Irvin Martin and Amos Martin and two sister-in-laws: Nora Martin and Sandra Martin.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Martindale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference), 210 Weaverland Valley Road, East Earl, PA 17519 with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. Rhoda (Martin) Martin, 87, New Paris, passed on to her eternal reward Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at her home.
She was born April 3, 1935, to Joseph and Mary (Shaum) Martin in Elkhart County, IN.
She accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth. She was united with the Wisler Mennonite Church and remained faithful until her death.
On October 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Leonard B. Martin who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and faithfully supported her husband in his ministry.
She is survived by six children: Keith (Mary Ann) Martin of Sauk Centre, MN, Marcia (Wayne) Eberly of Goshen, Patricia (Allen) Heatwole of New Paris, Donald (Karen) Martin of Goshen, Mary Beth (Loren) Shaum of Milford, and Ernest (Jolene) Martin of Brooten, MN; also 34 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Brubacher of Goshen; one brother, Benjamin (Carol) Martin of New Market, VA; two sisters-in-law Mary Martin and Thelma Martin of Goshen; and one brother-in-law James Bechtel of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Dana Devon, who died in a farm accident in 1973 at age five; her parents; one granddaughter Lana Martin; one great-granddaughter Kiana Martin; nine sisters, Barbara Brubacher, Susie Ramer, Ida Ramer, Emma Ramer, Bertha Martin, Grace Shirk, Ruth Brubacher, Miriam Hoover and Suetta Bechtel; and five brothers, Daniel, Naaman, Jason, Allen, and Rufus.

Rodney G. Martin, 50, of East Earl, died August 11, 2022, as the result of an airplane accident in Metz, WV. His wife of 27 years, Regina K. (Martin) Martin, survives.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Lloyd and Lydia (Good) Martin, of East Earl. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by six children: Blake married to Veronica Martin, East Earl, Geneva, married to Joshua Weaver, Sinking Springs, Grant Martin, fianc of Luanna Zimmerman, Vince Martin, Lyle Martin, and Brent Martin, all at home, and five siblings: Glenn married to Esther Martin, New Holland, Gerald married to Ada Martin, New Holland, Brenda married to Harold Martin, Mohnton, Arnold married to Melanie Martin, East Earl, and Keith married to LuAnn Martin, East Earl.
He was an active member of Blue Ball Mennonite Church and served in various ways. Rod kept his family priority and enjoyed taking them flying, hunting, to their family cabin and on numerous trips. He enjoyed working in sales at Martin Water Conditioning, Ephrata. Rod loved the Lord and was involved in various ministries. He was a representative for Allegheny Boys Camp and served on the aviation board for Jungle Breezes. He also enjoyed teaching for Anabaptist Financial and Engaged Couples Classes for Ebenezer's Discipleship Ministries. Rod liked to sing and was administrator for Eternal Praise Youth Chorale, in which his children were also involved.
We thank God for the life Rod lived and the legacy he left with us.
His funeral will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd., East Earl with Joel Martin, David Showalter, Michael Zimmerman, and Jay Paul Weaver officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ball Mennonite Cemetery. Friends will be received at Weaverland on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.

Rosella Eva Koogler Martin, 95, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 1, 1927, in Dayton at Fort Harrison, and was the daughter of the late John E. and Louetta Knicely Koogler.
One of her greatest joys in later years was transplanting flowers in all of her children’s greenhouses and meeting the customers. She was member of Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.
On Dec. 1, 1948, she married Abram D. Martin, who passed away in 2008.
Surviving are her children, Willard D. Martin and wife, Margaret, of Harrisonburg, Mary Ellen Teter of Dayton, Erma M. Beery and husband, Dwight, of Dayton, Arlene M. Reid and husband, G. Glenn, of Broadway, Elmer W. Martin and wife, Joyce, of Mount Solon and Gladys A. Martin of Harrisonburg; sister-in-law, Norma Koogler of Dayton; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Teter; sister, Ruth Witmer and husband, John; brother, Ervin Koogler; and an infant granddaughter, Stephanie L. Martin.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to the home of her grandson, Joseph Beery, 3813 Honey Run Road, Dayton, VA 22821 where friends may visit Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Rosetta Mae (Martin) Martin, age 81 years, 10 months and 18 days formerly of Goshen, passed away February 19, 2022 at the home of her daughter following declining health. Rosetta was born April 1, 1940 in Elkhart County, Indiana to Lewis and Florence (Ramer) Martin. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in her youth in the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. On September 28, 1958 she was united in marriage to Clare Martin. They shared a little over 62 ½ years together before his death on April 27, 2021.
She is survived by 3 sons, Dennis (Gloria) Martin, Wakarusa, Gene (Edith) Martin, Sauk Centre, MN and Dwane of Sauk Centre, MN; 2 daughters, Kayleen (John) Zimmerman, Belgrade, MN and Diane (Arlen) Zimmerman, Cass City, MI; sister, Gladys (Joe) Martin, Hayward, WI; 31 grandchildren and 86 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers, Eldon, Lamar and Dale Martin; daughter-in-law, Shirley Martin; 2 grandsons, Kevin and Devon Martin; and 2 great-granddaughters, Megan and Kiana Martin.

Titus R. Martin, 87, of Memphis, Missouri, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at his son's residence surrounded by family.
Titus was born on October 17, 1934, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the son of Amos Z. and Lydia Rissler Martin.
On November 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Florence G. Hackman. After fifty-six years together, she preceded him in death on April 7, 2013.They moved their family to Memphis, Missouri in December 1972.
To this union were born four sons and two daughters: Leonard and (Rebecca Martin) Martin of Memphis, Missouri; Marlin and (Martha Brubaker) Martin of Loyal, Wisconsin; Thelma and (Earl Martin) of Memphis, Missouri; David and (Janice Weiler) Martin of Memphis, Missouri; Dorothy and (Irvin Martin) of Rutledge, Missouri; and Philip and (Margaret Martin) Martin of Loyal, Wisconsin; a brother, Phares and Alice Martin of Mohnton, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Martha and Henry Gehman of Bowmansville, Pennsylvania; and Mary and Earl Horst of Middlesex, New York; forty-two grandchildren; one hundred nineteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Titus was ordained minister on June 28, 1966 at Bowmansville Church, Weaverland Conference, and served faithfully as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the Indian Creek Mennonite Church of Memphis, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Enos and his wife Anna Martin; and a grandson, Delbert Wayne Martin.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, at Indian Creek Mennonite Church south of Memphis, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Memphis, Missouri.

Wesley K. Martin, 30, of Narvon, PA died Thursday, August 11, 2022 as a result of an airplane accident in Metz, WV. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Karl G. and Dolores Z. Musser Martin of Narvon.
Wesley had been a self-employed carpenter and for the last year had been a chicken grower for Tyson Foods. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of Calvary Mennonite Fellowship. He had spent two years in voluntary service at Fresh Start Training Center in Washington, IN. Wesley enjoyed singing and had been a member of the Men with A Song Chorus.
Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Randall S. husband of Sharon R. (Martin) Martin of Reinholds, and Daniel R. husband of Alicia M. (Burkholder) Martin of Reading; a sister, Twila J. wife of Nelson L. Wenger of Otterville, MO; 15 nieces and nephews; a paternal grandmother, Cathryn M. (Good) Martin of Ephrata; and maternal grandparents, Isaac S. and Mary Jane (Zimmerman) Musser of Narvon. He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Elam L. Martin.

Eli R. Mast, age 85 of Ronks, PA, formerly of Hutchinson, KS, passed away at his home on Friday, April 29, 2022. He was the husband of Lydia Borkholder Mast with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on September 9th. He was born October 8, 1936, in Hutchinson, KS, son of the late Roman N. & Anna J. Borntrager Mast.
He was a member of Weavertown Mennonite Church. Eli was born and raised in Kansas and was a farmer. He enjoyed raising stock cows and pigs as well as crop farming grain and hay. He enjoyed helping in the community and interacting with neighbors and friends.
Surviving besides his wife is a son Amos E. husband of Mary Ann Stoltzfus Mast of Narvon, 4 grandsons: Caleb husband of Lisa King Mast, Bradley Mast, Verlon husband of Kyla Hostetler Mast and Kendall Mast, 5 great-grandchildren, sister Fannie Otto of Arthur, IL. He was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Emma Byler, Melvin Mast, and Johnny Mast.

Mast, Ernest Eugene
May 9, 1957 - November 29, 2022
Ernest Eugene Mast, of Macon Mississippi, moved to his heavenly home on November 29, 2022, at the age of 65 years 6 months and 20 days. He fought a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the family he loved.
He was born in Goshen, Indiana, to his parents Ottis U. & Anna Mae (Troyer) Mast on May 9, 1957. Ernest accepted Christ as his Savior in his youth and was baptized at the Magnolia Mennonite Church in Macon Mississippi.
At the age of nineteen, Ernest married Lois Ann Hilty, of Elida, Ohio. To this union were born four children, Cretora Lois, Douglas Eugene, Elroy Tobias, and Kimberly Anna. The Lord blessed them with two more children, Darrell Alen, and Brittany Kay.
Ernest's early occupation was crop & dairy farming. He was not afraid of hard work and was rewarded to see new life in crops & cattle. Mid-way through life, he retired from full time farming and went into construction work for his son, Elroy. Being the oldest man on the crew, Ernest enjoyed being "Popz” to both Reliable Construction employees as well as to business owners around town. Ernest had a kind, soft spot in his heart and would often reach out to the hurting and the down & out wherever he saw them. Ernest loved the Lord and made sure his family attended church and Sunday School. As the years went by, and Lois Ann's health continued to deteriorate, he became not only a husband but also a caregiver. He toiled tirelessly in holding down a job and caring for his wife. In the battle of life, Ernest never gave up. He continued to fight to serve God and family to the end.

He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Mae (Troyer) of Macon, Mississippi, one brother Otis Elwayne Mast, Macon, Mississippi, two grandchildren Andrew Elliot Mast, of Mount Airy, Maryland and Angelica Hope Kline, of Mount Airy, Maryland.
Visitation will be at the Magnolia Mennonite Church on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm. Services will be held at 1 pm at the same location

Joseph Ray Mast, 33 of rural Arthur, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 as the result of a drowning accident, near Bo Wood access area at Lake Shelbyville, about 3 miles south of Sullivan, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Homer Miller residence, 321 E CR 300 N, Arthur, Illinois Raymond S. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery in rural Arcola, Illinois. Visitation will begin any time after 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 16, 2022, and any time after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, all at the Homer Miller residence. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Joseph was born on February 11, 1989, in Urbana, Illinois. He is a son of Joe and Rosanna (Plank) Mast.
He is survived by his parents, Joe, and Rosanna Mast of rural Arthur, one brother, James Mark Mast of rural Arthur, Illinois.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents, Menno J., and Elizabeth C. (Gingerich) Mast and John B. and Leah (Miller) Plank.
Joseph has worked with his dad, Joe and his brother, James at Heartland Machine and Supply in rural Arthur for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.
Joseph was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Mast, Lizzie Ann Nisley

Lizzie Ann Mast 90, of 2987 TR 182, Baltic, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 following a period of declining health. She was born on October 3, 1932 to the late Abner and Barbara (Beachy) Nisley. On July 19, 1987 she married Noah M. Mast who preceded her in death on October 21, 2008. Lizzie Ann was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Marvin (Betty) Mast of Baltic, Anna (Henry J. C.) Yoder of Millersburg, Mose (Katie) Mast of the home; stepdaughter-in-law, Mattie (late Willis) Mast of Sugarcreek; 40 step-grandchildren; 159 step-great-grandchildren; 17 step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Verna (David) Barkman of Fresno; brother, Dan (Ella) Nisley of Millersburg; sisters-in-law, Amanda (late Jonas) Nisley, Ada (late Mose) Nisley both of Butler, and Edna (late Henry) Nisley of Millersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Noah, she was preceded in death by two stepsons, Willis Mast and Ivan Mast; step-granddaughter, Ruth Troyer; 5 step-great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Jonas, Emanuel, Mose, Henry, Fannie, Amanda and Lovina.
Funeral services will be held at the home on Friday, December 9, at 9:00 AM with Bishop Jerry Erb officiating. Burial will follow in the Yoder Cemetery. Melvin I. Mast, 92, of Middlebury, died peacefully surrounded by his family at 4:20 pm on Sunday, June 12 [2022] at his residence. He was born on March 17, 1930, in Middlebury, to Ira and Fannie (Bontrager) Mast. On June 18, 1950, he married Esther S. Troyer, she died June 13, 2019.
Surviving are son, Lester Laverne (Nancy) Mast of Sun City, AZ; two daughters, Joan (Lavern) Beachy of Goshen, Carolyn (Allen Jerome Neely) Mast of Middlebury; four grandchildren, Dustin (Kim) Mast, Anthony Mast, Traci (John) Shupert, Sheri (DJ Washington) Beachy; two step grandchildren, Troy (Erica) Weaver, Corey (Bobbi) Weaver; six great-grandchildren, Connor, Parker and Cadence Mast, Kailee and Khloe Beachy, Joshua Shupert; five brothers, John (Jean) Mast of Sarasota, FL, Elmer Mast of Middlebury, Leroy (Fannie) Mast of Mountain View, AR, Milo (Nancy) Mast of Goshen, Levi "Lee" (Arlene) Mast of Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and four brothers, Alvin, Dan, William "Bill", and Ora Mast.
Mel was co-owner of D&M Construction from 1965-2002 and was the former Director of CAM Insurance. He supervised the building of many local churches and buildings in the area, including Menno-Hof in Shipshewana. He was a member of Mt. Joy Mennonite Church and Gideons International. Mel and Esther spent 13 years in mission work in Mississippi. He enjoyed volunteering with MDS, doing wood working projects, and playing card games.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 16 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Friday, June 17 at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, 200 North 23rd Street, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Ben Shirk and Pastor Nelson Yoder. Burial will be in Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Gideons International and Mt. Joy Mennonite Church.
Mast, Nila V. Miller
May 21, 1940 - October 12, 2022
Nila V. Mast, age 82, of Millersburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, at Walnut Hills Retirement Home following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Martins Creek Mennonite Church, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Jay Conn officiating. A private family burial will precede the service at Martin’s Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Martins Creek Mennonite Church, 6111 CR 203, Millersburg, Ohio 44654. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio.
She was born May 21st, 1940 in Holmes County Ohio and was the daughter of Chauncey and Avora (Weaver) Miller. On August 10, 1968 she married Gerald (Gary) D Mast; he preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2010.
Nila was primarily a homemaker but had several part time jobs through the years. She loved flowers and gardening, and her artistic ability was displayed in many ways from paintings and murals to cake decorating and other crafty creations. She also enjoyed cooking and making desserts for the grandchildren to enjoy. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren were her delight. She was a member of Martins Creek Mennonite Church where she also enjoyed singing in the choir.
Surviving are two children and their spouses, Stacey (JJ) Egli of Wolcottville, Indiana and Christopher (Brandi) Mast of Pelham AL; six grandchildren, Blake, Gramm and Hunter Egli and Lucas, Lana and Garrett Mast; three sisters and one brother, Vivian Hershberger, Bertha Weaver, Chauncey Jr. (Juanita) Miller, Laola Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Orva; son, Rick; brother, Milan; husband Gary; sister, Arlene Miller, 3 brothers-in-law, Wayne Hershberger, Vernon Weaver, and Roman Miller.
Mast, Vesta Ann Yoder
December 17, 1936 — October 24, 2022
Vesta Ann Mast was born December 17, 1936, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Chester and Emma (Kauffman) Yoder. She was baptized in her youth and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and remained faithful until her death. Vesta passed away peacefully at her home after a period of declining health, at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 7 days. Vesta was united in marriage to Lloyd S. Mast on September 25, 1958. To this union were born 7 sons and 3 daughters.
Vesta is survived by her husband Lloyd; 10 children, James (Delores) of Leroy, Mich, John Almon (Elmina) of Roseville, IL, Marlin (Miriam) of Brighton, IA, Herbert (Myrna) of Reedsville, WI, Lavern (Velma) of Kalona, IA, Keith of Monroe WI, Emmaletta (Edward Ropp), Esther Lou (Marlin Ropp), Eileen (Mahlon Ropp) of Kalona, IA, Vernon (Anna Marie) of Monroe, WI. 61 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Minerva Borntrager of Kalona, IA and Clarabell (Stanley) Miller of Muscoda WI; 2 brothers, Vernon (Inez) Yoder and Robert (Phebe) Yoder, both of Kalona.
Preceding Vesta in death are her parents, 3 grandchildren, Paul Wendall Mast, Elnora Fern Mast and Jewel Ropp (Stillborn), 1 great grandchild, Kenneth Earl Troyer, and 1 brother-in-law Marvin Borntrager.
We as a family want to thank everyone that has been so helpful and supportive in prayer, in visiting, singing, writing letters and many other expressions and deeds of kindness during the time of her declining health. An extra special thank you to her regular care givers.

Maust, Thelma Martin Hershberger
January 1, 1929 - November 26, 2022
Thelma Martin Hershberger Maust, 93, died peacefully Saturday in the early morning of Nov. 26, 2022, at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC).
Born Jan. 1, 1929, in Augusta County near Stuarts Draft, Thelma was the third child of the late Rev. John D. and Mary (Craig) Martin.
On June 15, 1950, she married Abram “Abe” Wenger Hershberger of Harrisonburg, who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1987. Together they were active members of Weavers Mennonite Church, which she continued to attend throughout her life until moving into VMRC. They shared a love of gardening and journeyed frequently to the beaches of North Carolina together with their children.
Thelma was both a dedicated homemaker and worked part time at the local Risser Martin Egg Plant. In the years following Abe’s death, she briefly shared her baking talents at Heritage Bakery in Harrisonburg. Her family remembers her for her donuts, tea rings, pies, and artfully decorated cookies, among other treats.
On Jan. 14, 1989, she married Clayton Ray Maust of Pigeon, Mich., who passed away July 31, 2018. They began their marriage in Pigeon before returning to Harrisonburg. Together they enjoyed putting miles on their RV by camping, spending winters in Florida, and taking time to visit family near and far.
Thelma was known for her humble nature, generosity, work ethic, optimistic outlook, and steadfast dedication to her family. She enjoyed quilting, playing games, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and hosting friends and family for delicious meals.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton E. Martin and his wife, Esther, and Roy D. Martin; sister, Mary Frances “Francie” Martin Campbell and her husband, Raymond “Ersel”; and sister-in-law, Phyllis H. Martin.
She is survived by her brother, J. Garland Martin; sister-in-law, Ruth Y. Martin; children, Dr. Leon W. Hershberger and wife, Marjorie, and Evelyn H. Showalter and husband, Myron; four grandchildren, Matthew Hershberger and wife, Jennifer, Todd Showalter and wife, Miranda, Rebecca H. Cooper and husband, Ian, and Melissa Showalter and husband, Roberto Curtis; six great-grandchildren, Sean Hershberger, Aiden Hershberger, Annabell Showalter, Evan Showalter, Rio Showalter Curtis, and Euan Cooper; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Thelma is also survived by Clayton’s family, who embraced her with open arms. They include five stepchildren, Cherie Yoder and husband, Larry, Jerry Maust and wife, Tammy, Lynette Yoder and husband, Darrel, Debby Graber and husband, Barry, and Lori Beachy and husband, Lester; 28 stepgrandchildren; 61 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home, 5784 Greenmount Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22802. Following a private graveside service, a Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. at Weavers Mennonite Church Fellowship building (Shady Oak), 2501 Rawley Pike, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

McClain, Geraldine E. Gibson
January 24, 1923 - April 16, 2022
Geraldine E. McClain, 99, of Pewee Valley, Kentucky and formerly of Goshen, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022, in Louisville.
She was born January 24, 1923 in Goshen, to Orlie and Esther (Yoder) Gibson.
On June 18, 1943 she married Sheldon M. McClain in Goshen. He died June 26, 2018.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie McClain Macaluso of Fallbrook, California; a son, Stephen (Marilyn) McClain of Pewee Valley, Kentucky; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Hull; a brother, Raymond Gibson and a sister, Eilene Neichaus.
A longtime area resident, Mrs. McClain worked in sales for Coachmen Industries. She was formerly a member of First Mennonite Church of Middlebury.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 12, noon, until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Terry Tyler will officiate.
Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.

Mellinger, Alta M. Zimmerman
September 11, 1935 - April 11, 2022
Alta M. Mellinger, age 86 of Garden Spot Village passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. Born September 11, 1935, in Blue Ball, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Ivan B. and Ethel H. (Newswanger) Zimmerman. She was an active member of Akron Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Mellinger of New Holland, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage; two daughters, Donna L. of Phoenixville, and Sharon M. of Lancaster, married to Rob Adams; four sisters, Joanne married to Paul Zimmerman of New Holland, Shirley married to Glenn Sauder of Manheim, Susan married to Jonathon Moyer of Newmanstown, and Fannie married to Loren Ressler of Brickerville; three brothers, Lester married to Thelma Good of Lititz, Ray married to Martha Groff of Turbotville, and Mark married to Marilyn Stauffer of Lititz; and sister-in-law, Martha High Zimmerman of Lititz. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, and brother, Mervin.
She was a graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School 1956 and Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing 1959, and received a BS in Nursing from Eastern Mennonite College (EMU) in 1967.
She loved nursing! Her nursing career began with one year at LGH, three years at Deder Hospital in Deder, Ethiopia, under Eastern Mennonite Missions, and one year at Ephrata Community Hospital. After receiving her BSN, she worked in nursing in Virginia, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
Her second love, interspersed with nursing, was caring for preschool children. She cared for children in her home, in day care at AMC, and ended the childcare part of her career as a private nanny for six years.
She enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the states of the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska. In addition, she visited Puerto Rico, eight provinces of Canada and 31 other countries. She also enjoyed reading.
In retirement, she volunteered eight years with Life Line, ten years as a Chaplain Associate at Ephrata Community Hospital, and Wednesday mornings at the Material Resource Center of MCC. She also served as a Caring Companion at Garden Spot Village.
A memorial service will be held at Akron Mennonite Church on Sunday, May 1 at 3:00 followed by a time of fellowship.

December 13, 1931 - July 3, 2022
Carl M. Metzler, 90, of Goshen, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Masontown, Pennsylvania, to A.J. and Alta (Maust) Metzler.
On June 6, 1953, he married Doris Gunden in Goshen.
She survives along with three children, Jane Metzler of Goshen, Linda (Christopher Gill) Metzler of Berrien Springs, Michigan and Robert (Cathy) Metzler of Marietta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica), Sara, Martina (John) and Joshua (Erin); a great-grandson, Johnny; sisters, Alice (Willard) Roth, and Joyce (Jep) Hostetler, both of Goshen and a brother, A. Jay (Jill) Metzler of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy (Lawrence) Brunk and a brother Edgar (Ethel) Metzler.
He retired from The Upjohn Company (now Pfizer), Kalamazoo, as a mathematician in research and development, where he was awarded the Upjohn Award for Achievement in Science and Medicine. He also designed and developed a computer program, NONLIN, for studying pharmacokinetic/dynamics. He was a Fellow of American Statistical Association and of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. After retirement in 1994 he worked as a private consultant for six years.
After moving to Goshen in 1998, they became members of College Mennonite Church. They were active members of Skyridge Church of the Brethren, Kalamazoo for 32 years.
Dr. Metzler graduated from Goshen College in 1955 and earned his doctorate from North Carolina State University in 1965.
Services will be held July 16, 2022 at 11:00am in the Alta and AJ Metzler Meeting House, located in the Healthcare Building, 1225 Greencroft Dr., on the Greencroft Goshen campus. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 in the same location. Facial masking will be required. Food and fellowship will follow at Juniper Place Dining Hall, also located on the Greencroft Goshen Campus.
Memorial gifts may be given to College Mennonite Church Ministry fund or the AJ/Alta Metzler Scholarship at Goshen College.

Clare Ann Metzler, 71, formerly of Holtwood, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2022, at The Gardens at Stevens in Denver. She was born at home in Holtwood to the late Clayton H. and Irene G. Metzler.
Clare was a 1970 graduate of Solanco High School.
She is survived by her siblings: Clayton J., husband of Florence L. Metzler of York; Blanche M., wife of Leroy Church of Holtwood; Esther M., wife of Wayne H. Toller of Walsenburg, CO; Evelyn L Metzler, Josephine G. Metzler, Pauline G. Metzler, and J. Francis Metzler all of Holtwood and many nieces and nephews. Clare was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene M., wife of David Livengood and Mary M., wife of Homer D. Carpenter.
A Funeral Service will take place at Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church, 735 Church Road, Quarryville, PA on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery.

Meyer, Miriam Moyer Gross
April 26, 1933 - September 20, 2022
Miriam Moyer Gross Meyer, 89, of Kidron, OH and formerly of Goshen, IN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at her home.
She was born in Doylestown, PA on April 26, 1933 to the late Titus L. and Olive (Moyer) Gross.
She married Frederick Elmer Meyer on December 28, 1957. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2003.
She was a retired registered nurse, having earned a degree from Goshen College in 1955. She enjoyed her career as a nurse. She spoke fondly of her years serving as a school nurse in Rittman, Ohio and her years working as a public health nurse.
She was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen, IN.
Her faith was central in her life and she knew she loved Jesus since she was very young. She was baptized at age 13 at Trevose Mennonite Church in Pennsylvania.
Later, after earning a college degree, working as a nurse, marrying and raising a family, she reflected, "God has faithfully helped me grow in Him, forgiving my sins and failures throughout my life."
She was always active in her local congregation and enjoyed participating in Stephen Ministries. She and her husband worked together to lead this ministry at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, Ohio.
Later, she served as a Stephen Minister with Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen, Indiana.
She could talk to anyone anywhere anytime. Her way with people throughout her life was to listen and include them in her life, even in brief encounters.
She deeply loved her family and they brought her much joy.
Her family has grown to 42 people and will soon number 43 with the expected arrival of another great-grandchild.
She always looked forward to family gatherings; and she faithfully prayed for each of her family members.
She is survived by son, John (Melody) Meyer of Chicago, IL; daughter, Mary (Carl) Wiebe of Kidron and with whom she had made her home; son, Steve (Rachel) Meyer of Orrville; daughter, Lois (Ronald) Chupp of Goshen, IN and son, Tom (Erika) Meyer of Huntertown, IN; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas (Sylvia) Meyer, Kelly (Jeremy) Kane, Tamara (Daniel) Martin, Joshua (Kyla) Wiebe, Heidi (Alex) Steiner, Kara (Diogo) Durante, Zachary Meyer, Sarah Meyer, Matthias Chupp, Cheyenne Chupp, Ruby Meyer and Henry Meyer; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois (Christopher) Leuz of Hickory, NC and a brother, Leonard (Irene) Gross of Goshen, IN.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia Bubalo and Geraldine Harder.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Kidron Mennonite Church on Saturday, October 15 at noon.
Visitation before the service will be from 11:00 a.m. to noon.
A private family burial will take place at Oak Grove Mennonite Church cemetery.
